about us

Norfolk Grief Tending is a platform for workshops and circles that help us find our way into the ancient practice of tending our grief in community.

We've been growing a community around this work for some years now. Sophy Banks, a pioneer in the expanding world of grief tending, has been coming to Norfolk to regularly facilitate workshops for us. A number of us have now trained with Sophy as Grief Apprentices and, alongside others experienced in these deep group processes, we're looking to take the work forward and make it more widely available locally.

Sophy's website will give you an idea of the practices we're working with and the lineage we're drawing on. We're also looking to support offerings around The Work That Reconnects (based on the teachings of Joanna Macy) with its more overt emphasis on naming and holding our pain for the world, and playing our part in the transformation of self, society and planet.

This is all a work in progress as we build a network and figure out our distinct contribution to this worldwide movement. We will be developing this website as we go, adding in more details about who we are and what we're offering.

If you'd like to keep in touch, please signup to our mailing list and we'll keep you posted about events and other unfoldings.

The day was crafted with integrity and intention, inviting safety, respect, connection, compassion, playfulness, strength, courage and wisdom... For anyone thinking of embarking on this journey I would say, "Trust yourself and the alchemy of grief tending. Allow yourself into the river, trusting it will take you to the place you most need to reach. Be open to a certain grace holding you, woven by the hearts of those journeying with you. And your own."
SARAH DURRANT

“I went inside my heart to see how it was.  Something there makes me hear the whole world weeping.”
